Location
Hotel Villa delle Rose is beautifully housed in a building built towards the end of the eighteenth century by Count Soderini (belonging to an ancient noble Florentine family), who chose it as a country home. For the careful dedication to the cultivation of peasant flowers (which in these places has been handed down to the present day) the villa was called delle Rose by the Count himself. The hotel is located 5 minutes from the train station of Pescia, so an excellent starting point for visiting the beautiful nearby cities such as Lucca, Florence, Pisa, Montecatini. The village of Pescia, the main center of the green and secluded Switzerland Pesciatina, in the Valdinievole Tuscany, is one of the places where you can read the evolution of the place represented plastically by the urban appearance. Founded as a mighty castle, Pescia soon had to reckon with Florence, which in 1339 subdued it by snatching it from the hands of Lucca. Since then the village has followed the fate of Florence, becoming part of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
The city’s economy has always been thriving, thanks to the river that was also used as a driving energy. First there were many silk mills, paper mills and then tanneries. Today Pescia is also known for its Florentine nursery activity.
